Melissa McCarthy is sick and tired of sexist media.

In a May 15 interview, the 44-year-old actress told Entertainment Weekly about a time she was approached by a film critic at the Toronto Film Festival last September. The critic had written a rather harsh (and sexist) review of her role in the movie “Tammy,” which her husband, Ben Falcone, directed.

“Are you the one who wrote I was only a good actor when I looked more attractive and that my husband should never be allowed to direct me because he allowed me to look so homely?” she asked the critic.

When he admitted that he was, McCarthy asked him, “Would you say that to any guy? When John C. Reilly — or any actor — is playing a character that is depressed and dejected, would you say, ‘Well, you look terrible!’?”

McCarthy continued on her epic response, telling EW that she asked the reviewer if he had a daughter. When he replied that he did, she told him, “Watch what you say to her. Do you tell her she’s only worthwhile or valid when she’s pretty?” Shut. Down.

She told EW that Hollywood sexism is “an intense sickness” that she’s done putting up with. “For someone who has two daughters, I’m wildly aware of how deep that rabbit hole goes,” she said. “But I just don’t want to start listening to that stuff. I’m trying to take away the double standard of ‘You’re an unattractive bitch because your character was not skipping along in high heels.’”

Go ahead, brush that dirt off your shoulders Melissa.
