“The Dukes of Hazzard” star John Schneider is headed for divorce, the actor confirmed Wednesday.

“The glue that held us together has weakened, and I feel it’s the only way to not only salvage our friendship, but to remain a good example to our children,” the 54-year-old actor said in a statement.

According to People, Elvira “Elly” Schneider, the actor’s wife of 21 years, filed divorce docs in Los Angeles last month, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.

The pair have three adult children — Leah, Chasen, and Karis — and Elvira is reportedly requesting spousal support.

Schneider’s claim to fame was his portrayal of reckless country boy Bo Duke on the iconic ’80s TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Since then, he’s played Clark Kent’s father on “Smallville” and he currently stars on Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and the Have Nots” on OWN.

The actor was previously married to former Miss America Tawny Little.
